Learning More about Dr. Kopelman
Ari has been certified as a therapy dog. She is available for appointments, upon request. If your child is stressed by doctors, worried about receiving vaccines, or could benefit from pet therapy, Ari is trained to be here.

What People Are Saying
“I met Dr. Kopelman after having my second child and immediately changed to her as pediatrician to both of my children. She has always been attentive to the well being of not only my children but our family unit over the last 9 years. She has a warm, kind and calm nature that has put my boys and myself at ease through some difficult medical issues. I recommend her to any family looking for a pediatrician.”

My Medical Interests
I am interested in so many things —
I don’t know where to start!
My first child was colicky — and this led to my strong interest in lactation support, a vast knowledge of different sleep training philosophies and techniques, and a wide array of infant soothing techniques.
I am passionate about interacting with children with special needs, ranging from autism to learning disabilities.
I am interested in optimizing natural treatments for ADHD, depression and anxiety whenever possible — and providing medical support when needed.
I have always been interested in Adolescent Medicine, and supporting teenagers as they become independent and responsible for their own lives.
Pet therapy is an amazing therapeutic option for many stressful situations. I have raised and certified Ari, a golden retriever, as a Therapy Dog. She is available, upon request, to be at visits.
Choosing Personalized Pediatrics of Maine
I have worked in Midcoast and Southern Maine since 2008. During this time, medicine has changed dramatically. Like many other doctors who believe in patient-centered care, I have chosen to switch to a Direct Primary Care model — it allows me to practice medicine the way it should be (pardon the riff on the Maine logo!)
Some things just can’t wait: my DPC practice provides the highest quality of care when it is most needed. I am also committed to taking the time to keep children healthy, by providing education about wellness, nutrition, and development. I want parents to sleep at night, knowing that their children are healthy — secure in the knowledge that if something comes up, they know who to call.
I believe that good medicine isn’t just about sick visits — it’s about keeping children healthy. Being allowed the honor of helping children and their families grow is the reason I became a pediatrician.
Finding Breastfeeding Medicine
For families who choose to breastfeed, the first few days are the most critical. Breastfeeding can fail because mothers are unable to get the support they need early on. After witnessing many families struggle, I became a Certified Lactation Counselor through the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice. I have experience in variety of techniques to help maximize milk supply and latch support, including treating posterior tongue tie when necessary. My goal is to support families achieve their breastfeeding goals. Sometimes breastfeeding fails, or families have reasons to choose formula feeding — my belief is to bring the same empathy and support to all families .
